Black Shirt with Green Marijuana Leaf

    A 16-year-old male is now facing Burglary charges in Juvenile court, following a Burglary near Lake Greenwood yesterday. Laurens County Deputy Kenneth Sibley was dispatched to Shriners Club Road, Waterloo at 3:35 yesterday afternoon to investigate a burglary. A man reported he and his wife had left their home at 7 yesterday morning to take their kids to school. They didn’t return home until 3:20 yesterday afternoon, after the children were picked up at school. The resident indicated that on returning home he discovered the home had been entered. The resident has a concealed weapons’ permit and used his weapon to search the house for an intruder. He reportedly found one pistol stolen from his nightstand by his bed. Other drawers had been opened, and his gun cabinet was opened and two firearms were missing from it.

   While Deputy Sibley was on the way to investigate, the resident reportedly spotted a subject near his residence in the woods. When he verbally challenged this person, the subject ran out to Shriners Club Road and began running towards Dillard Road. The resident said that he fired a shot into the air as the subject continued running toward Dillard Road.

  Deputy Sibley, en route to the scene, was informed that a subject of interest in the Burglary whose description included a black shirt with a green marijuana leaf on front. As the deputy was on Dillard Road heading to investigate the burglary, he reportedly spotted a subject walking on Dillard Road. The male matched the description including the wearing of a black shirt with a green marijuana leaf. Deputy Sibley stopped his patrol vehicle and got out to question the suspect. The young male responded by running into the woods at the 1100 block of Dillard Road. The deputy pursued the subject for about 100 yards before loosing sight of him, then continued to the scene of the burglary.

  Other deputies searched for the suspect, and located him a short time later. Meanwhile, another deputy recovered the three stolen weapons, found together in the woods near the home, in the area where the subject had been spotted. They included a 9mm pistol fully loaded with 20 rounds.  Value of the stolen firearms was $1,088. 

  Deputies analyzed the residence, noting the damage from the burglary, including damage to a door with a replacement value of $950.

  Two dollar bills taken from the burglary were reportedly located on the suspect. The 16-year-old male juvenile complained on an injury to his knee. He was taken by EMS to Laurens County Memorial Hospital and treated, then transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice to be prosecuted on a Burglary charge.
