Traffic was interrupted at major Clinton railroad crossings three days last week for three different matters involving trains. One involved a train VS a truck, then a train was broken down and unable to proceed, and finally a train VS pedestrian.
This week we’ve had a train VS golf cart collision. This time, no delays are noted, as the train apparently didn’t stop for this incident.
The Highway Patrol was initially dispatched yesterday on a report that a train had struck a golf cart in the early morning hours at or near the crossing on Hurricane Church Road near the Chip Mill. The Highway Patrol reportedly was unable to locate the golf cart at that time. The Sheriff’s Office was notified late yesterday morning about the theft of a golf cart. A resident of Shady Grove Church Road told Deputy Michael Crockett that his golf cart, valued at $2500, was taken between 10:30 Monday night and 4:30 Tuesday morning. Deputy Jamison Taylor reports that deputies went to the railroad crossing yesterday and walked the tracks, finding the golf cart about .2 mile from the crossing.
