A big truck’s attempt to travel down a side street near Downtown Laurens reportedly resulted in over $5,000 in damage to a power line. Laurens Police responded to Jones Street at 5:28 yesterday afternoon on a report of a tractor-trailer truck damaging power lines. Officer Andrew Ashley arrived to observe a broken power pole in the roadway and several guy-tension wires dangling over the roadway. The CPW was dispatched to the scene a short time later, and a CPW employee was able to secure the wires for the evening, pending permanent repair. Damage to the power line on Jones Street was $5,500.
