Sgt. John Carter was dispatched to an address in the 1600 range of Curry Road, Laurens at 2:40 yesterday afternoon and spoke with a Simpsonville woman. She said that her son had driven by the residence and noticed the front door open and called her. She said she arrived to find someone had forced entry to the back door, and that the stove and refrigerator were both missing. A black tire iron was found on the kitchen counter. Sgt. Carter noted it appears that had been used to force the back door open. The cover was also removed from the breaker box near the back door, but it was not determined if that was connected with the break-in. Value of the stolen appliances was $1,000. The break-in reportedly happened on or since last Friday.
