College Results:
- FCS Playoffs: Furman defeated SC State 30-20 in Orangeburg and will travel to top ranked North Dakota State this Saturday for a 3:00 pm contest…. Meanwhile Coastal Carolina defeated Bethune-Cookman 48-24 and will be on the road taking on #8 Montana Saturday.
- South Carolina 31 – Clemson 17: I think that al Gamecock fans out there will agree with what Carolina Coach Steve Spurrier said after last Saturday night’s game in that Clemson is a good team that just does not play well against Carolina and the 6 turnovers by the Tigers and none by the Gamecocks proved to be the difference in South Carolina’s 31-17 win over Clemson… Connor Shaw definitely was the better quarterback in the game that night… Now I refuse to be one of those Carolina fans that keep pointing out that no one on the Clemson football team knows what it feels like to beat Carolina, go around giving their Clemson friends a high-five signifying 5 in-a-row or asking them if they know how to say something long time Carolina fans learned many years ago “wait until next year”….No I will not rub it in… I’ll let a small smile and a handshake do that.
BCS Rankings:
- With Alabama’s loss to Auburn on Saturday there was some shakeup in the BCS standings… Florida State moved up a spot to #1 followed by Ohio state, Auburn, Alabama and Missouri… Spots 6-10 are now occupied by Oklahoma State, Stanford, South Carolina, Baylor and Michigan State… Clemson checked in at # 13…. Florida and Ohio State are the only unbeaten teams in the top 10.
