The City of Clinton received an award Monday evening for financial reporting….Again.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association to municipalities who present their financial condition in a concise, readable manner. This award was presented for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012 and represents the 24th consecutive year the city of Clinton has earned the award.
As she presented the city’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the 2012/2013 fiscal year, Accounting Consultant Toni McKinley explained to council that the city of Clinton’s near quarter century run in receiving the award each year is very nearly an unprecedented feat.
In his letter accompanying the financial report, City Manager Frank Stovall also expressed that he believes the report for the most recent fiscal year will also meet the stringent requirements for the city to receive the award again next year.
