Robin Eric Morse took the oath of office as the 4th Director of Public Safety for the City of Clinton during a ceremony held in City Council chambers Friday afternoon. Following the oath, Morse had brief comments on taking the new position:

“I’ve been looking forward to this day, I am Glad to be here. I’m looking forward to working with everybody. Hope we’re going to be able to make the progress you’ve asked me to make, we’re certainly going to put forth 100% effort. And I appreciate everybody’s trust they’ve put in me. Thank you.” (applause)

Robin Morse, a native of Cross Hill and long-time law enforcement officer in Laurens County, was selected to head the Clinton Department of Public Safety after 17 years as Chief of Police for the neighboring City of Laurens. In an interview to be broadcast tomorrow on WLBG, Morse noted a non-police area as one of his first major objectives: a goal of improving Clinton Fire Insurance rating with the I.S.O. to a “Three.”
