Clinton Public Safety yesterday served Kidnapping and Criminal Domestic Violence charges on a young man following an incident early Tuesday night. 19-year-old Jerry Lee Richards Jr. of 763 Lake Road, Clinton was initially charged with Public Disorderly Conduct at 6:33 pm Tuesday after he allegedly did not comply with an officer’s request to calm down outside Senior Garcia’s, and allegedly continued using profanity.
Officers were told that a young woman had agreed to meet Richards at the restaurant so he could see their 4-month-old child, but he allegedly attempted to take the child away. A warrant was served yesterday stating that on Tuesday evening Jerry L. Richards committed the crime of Kidnapping by seizing and carrying away the child without permission of the mother. Another warrant alleges that he committed the crime of Criminal Domestic Violence by grabbing the mother of his child by her right forearm, causing injury.
Surety Bonds on the three charges were set totaling $17,412.50. Jerry Lee Richards Jr. was placed in the Johnson Detention Center, where he remained this morning.
