Clinton Public Safety responded to a trailer at 107 Oakland Street at 40 minutes after midnight yesterday morning on a call about a dispute outside a residence. A subject had reportedly been loud enough during the incident to cause people to come outside their homes to see what was going on. Lt. Jones and Officer Lawton reportedly located the subject hiding in a closet in one of the residences. He was not directly observed, but clothing he was hiding behind was moving. When Lt. Casey Jones advised the subject to show his hands, he reportedly stuck only his hands outside the closet briefly, then quickly retreated back into the closet out of officer’s sight. Officer Stephen Lawton then reportedly seized the subject and pulled him from the closet, placing him into investigative detention. 23-year-old Christopher Lee Couey of Unit 37 at 520 North Broad, Clinton was issued tickets charging him with Trespassing and with Disorderly Conduct. Surety bonds were set at $262 on each charge during arraignment yesterday. He was placed in the Johnson Detention Center, where he remained this morning.
