- BB: Newberry 6 – CHS 4… The varsity base ball team traveled down to Newberry yesterday to take on the Bulldogs and normally when you out hit a team you win… Well that was not the case last night as Clinton had 7 hits to Newberry’s 4 but Newberry took a 6-4 win… The game was tied 2 all going into the 5th inning when Clinton struck for 2 runs but the only problem is that Newberry got 4 in their half of the 5th… In the decisive 5th inning a couple of hits and walks as well as a hit batter mixed with a couple of Red Devil errors made the difference for Newberry…. Landon Allison went 3-3 for the Red Devils and had a double and a triple as well as 3 RBIs… Click on the following for the Clinton box score and statistics: 14-4-9_BB_CHS-Newberry_Stats_Box The 7-8 Red Devils will be at home today for a JV-varsity doubleheader with Laurens… The varsity game can be heard on Real Radio 860 WLBG about 7:30.

- BB: LDHS 3 – HHS 2 in 9… Last night in Simpsonville the Raiders Kevin Dean and Hillcrest’s Charlie Bishop hooked up in a pitcher’s duel that went 9 innings with both pitchers going the distance… When it was all over, Kevin Dean picked up the 3-2 win in what Coach Dale Nelson described as a great performance… Dean gave up only 6 hits while striking out 11 and walking 3 one of which was an intentional base on balls… He worked out of a bases loaded with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th inning by striking out a Hillcrest batter for out #2 and enticed the next batter ground into a fielder’s choice with the 3rd out registered at 2nd base… In the 9th inning a pair of Hillcrest errors and a sacrifice fly by Thomas Jones netted 2 runs for the Raiders… In the bottom of the 9th, a walk, fielder’s choice and a double allowed Hillcrest to pull within 1 before Dean Struck out 1 and Hillcrest lined out to end the game… Laurens was held to just 6 hits and Grayson Bailes was the only Raider with more than 1 hit picking up 2… Click on the following for the game’s box score and more stats: 14-4-9_LDHS_BB-Hillcrest_Stats Click on the following for the game scorecard: 14-4-9_LDHS_BB-Hillcrest_Scorecard The Raiders are now 9-4 and 5-4 in region play… They travel to Clinton today for a for a JV-varsity doubleheader with Laurens… The varsity game can be heard on Real Radio 860 WLBG about 7:30.
