Laurens East Main Street remained closed this morning as work on repairs to the approach to the Little River Bridge. Laurens Special Projects Director Tommy Burns said a check recently revealed that water is undercutting the earth under the approach to the bridge, on the east shore of the river. He said that two concrete drain boxes are being replaced as the wash-out underneath the Main Street approach to the bridge is being repaired. While there was some possibility of repairs being finalized Friday, this did not appear certain, and Main Street remains blocked between Harper and Mill Streets.
