Laurens City Police yesterday arrested a suspect from an alleged sex crime in 2010 and two auto break-ins in 2012. 23-year-old Ty Niary Dodson of Apartment 15-B at 116 Garlington Street, Laurens was charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor 3rd Degree and two charges of Breaking and Entering a Vehicle. Laurens Police Detective Jared Hunnicutt states that based on information it appears that between July 1st and July 31st 2010 the defendant did commit a lewd act on a juvenile victim who was 10-years-old. He allegedly rubbed his exposed genitalia on the victim’s bare buttocks for sexual gratification in the incident at the Laurens Motel on East Main Street. Laurens Detective Tony Lynch states that Ty Dodson broke into two vehicles at separate locations on Pinehaven Street on January 23rd, 2012. He allegedly broke into one vehicle at 397 Pinehaven Street and stole a pocket-book containing approximately $70 cash along with the victim’s driver’s license and other items, and also allegedly broke into a vehicle at an apartment at 495 Pinehaven Street Extension but didn’t take anything from that vehicle. Ty Dodson was being held in the Johnson Detention Center overnight, pending arraignment.
