Employee Awards for Whitten Center

The Whitten Center ‘Employee of the Year’ and ‘Beyond the Call’ Awards were presented at the Annual Whitten Center Parents’ Club meeting last Friday – April 25th.   Mike Gage was named Whitten Center Employee of the Year.  He works in day programs’ Enclave Program where he supervises and works with residents as they perform a wide variety of tasks.  He is well-loved by residents and employees.  He was presented a certificate and a check for $300 from the Parents’ Club.  Along with representatives from other regional centers, he is now eligible for the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Employee of the Year honor.  The DDSN commission will select the department winner at their May meeting.

Six others, nominated by their supervisors, were presented with Beyond the Call Awards.  These six were Denise Thompson, Claudette Barnes, Startasia Edwards, Ernestine Whitener, Martha Richardson, and Joanne Davis.  All of these winners work in various residences.  They were acclaimed for their performance above and beyond what is reasonably expected in their jobs.  Each received a certificate and a check for $100.
