Laurens County Sheriff’s Lt. Robbie Haupfear and Corporal Christy Johnson were dispatched to a Joanna residence on Moorehead Street at 8:16 yesterday morning to do a welfare check on the resident. When the resident answered the door, he indicated a woman and man were alone in the other bedroom. Consent to search was given, and the two were found asleep in bed. Lt. Haupfear reported observing a pipe used in smoking drugs lying the man’s leg and his pants lying on his side of the bed, with his wallet and a plastic bag in view that contained a rock-like substance. 35-year-old Gregory McSwain Morgan was arrested and booked with an address noted on Marion Street, Joanna. He was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Simple Possession of another drug. 3.5 grams of meth was allegedly confiscated. Morgan was released from the Johnson Detention Center later yesterday on surety bonds totaling $5,620.
