The Blue Hose football schedule this year includes 6 home games… The first home game is Sept. 6th as they host Bluefield… The other home games are against Furman, Western Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Monmouth and Liberty… Some of these games will be at night as PC is installing lights at Bailey Memorial Stadium this summer… Blue reserved chair-back seats season tickets are only $75 each while bench reserved seats are $54 each… You can call the ticket office at 864-833-8240 or click on the following to link to the PC webpage where you will find more information: 2014 PC Season Football Ticket Information
Local Notes: There is a good bit of local all-star team action involving county teams this weekend… Some of the action includes;
- Clinton Dixie Youth Coaches Pitch team will be in action in the state tournament starting tomorrow in Florence… Their first game will be at 2:15 as they face the Sumter American team.
- The 9-10 Clinton Dixie Minors All-Star team will in the District Championship series in Batesburg-Leesville as take on a team from Abbeville at 6:30
- The Clinton and Laurens 10-11 Dixie Youth All-Star teams will face off against each other in a best of 3 series starting tonight at Collyar Park.
- The Laurens Little League Coaches Pitch All-Star team will continue play in the state tournament in Irmo.
- And finally the Laurens 11-12 Little League All-Star team will be hosting the district tournament starting tonight… They will play a team from Easley tonight at 7:00 and then face a team from Greenwood tomorrow morning at 10:00

Braves: Astros 6 – Braves 1… The Houston Astros avoided the sweep by defeating the Atlanta Braves 6-1 in Houston yesterday afternoon… Neither team hit very well as the Astros got their 6 runs on only 8 hits while the Braves offense was limited to just 6 hits… The big difference was that 2 of the Astros 8 hits were homers with the big blow being a 3-run homer by the Astros third baseman Matt Dominguez in the 5th inning… The Braves travel to Philadelphia today to start a 4-game series with the Phillies over the weekend.
Greenville Drive: Tourist 9 – Drive 4…. The Ashville Tourist defeated the Greenville Drive up in Ashville last night by a score of 9-4… The Tourist broke a 3-3 tie in the 4th inning when they plated 3 runs adding 1 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to take the win… Ashville simply out-hit Greenville 16-6 to take the win… The Drive continue on the road for the next 4 days as they travel to Hickory, NC for a 4-game series with the Crawdads.
World Cup… Germany 1 – USA 0… The US soccer team fell to Germany by a score of 1-0 yesterday in their final game of pool play… Thomas Muller got the lone goal of the game in the 55th minute… The US finishes pool play with a 1-1-1 record and thanks to Portugal which defeated Ghana 2-1 will advance to the round of 16 as they finished 2nd in Group H… The US team will most likely play Belgium next (Tuesday most likely).
Countdown to Start of Football Season: Hang on football fans it’s only 56 days until Clinton opens up its football season at AC Flora, 62 days until PC opens up at Northern Illinois and 63 days until Laurens host BHP in the start of the Chris Liner era at LDHS.
This & That: Football Officials Wanted… Have you ever sat in the stands at a football game and said to yourself I can do as good a job as those “blind zebras” out there… Well now is your chance to prove that… The District 13 Football Officials Association is looking for a few good men or women to who want to be football officials… If you are interested, call Brian Shealy at the Clinton YMCA… The phone number there is 833-1555… Also you can come to their meetings which are held each Monday night in the meeting room at the Clinton YMCA to get more information… The meetings start at 6:00 pm… The last date to join them is Sunday, July 13th.
