Laurens County Deputy Timothy Byrd was dispatched to Houston Street outside Laurens on a car-vs-pedestrian incident at 9:48 last night. Lt. Marty Crain and Lt. Bryant Cheek also responded to the location. Officers were told that there had been an argument at Laurens Terrace and a man had left in his car, and his girlfriend had reportedly jumped on the hood of the car. Her friends followed in another vehicle as the boyfriend drove down South Harper Extension and turned onto Houston Street. When he attempted to turn around and exit Houston, the friend’s vehicle blocked his way. At that point the girlfriend reportedly jumped off the hood and opened the driver’s door, continuing the argument. The man reportedly attempted to leave and struck the friend’s car, with the impact throwing the girlfriend across the boyfriend’s car and onto the hood of her friend’s vehicle, with her finally landing on the roadway.
The 21-year-old woman was transported to Greenville for treatment of multiple cuts to both arms and abdominal pain.
The man reportedly left the scene, but later had someone take him to Laurens Police to turn himself in. Deputy Cook picked the man up from Laurens Police after 10:30 last night and placed him in the Johnson Detention Center. Deputies located the man’s car at his residence on Boyd Road and had it towed to the county impound lot for further investigation.
22-year-old Traveon Devonte Foggie, also known as “Trap,” of 2263 Boyd Road, Laurens was being held in the Johnson Detention Center this morning, with Lt. Cheek expected to obtain a warrant to charge him today in connection with the incident.
