Laurens Police arrested a Laurens woman yesterday on charges that she put her unborn child at risk through her drug use. Officer Patrick Craven delivered 32-year-old Leslie Mack Davis of 5-E, 309 Exchange Drive, Laurens to the Johnson Detention Center yesterday on a charge of Unlawful Conduct toward a Child. Leslie “Sunshine” Davis is accused of placing her unborn male child in unreasonable risk of harm by using multiple illegal substances during her pregnancy between June 1st and July 10th, causing the child to test positive for methamphetamine, cocaine and opiates. A warrant from Detective Jared Hunnicutt states the child was taken into emergency protective custody, and that the illegal use occurred while Ms. Davis was residing in apartment E-5 at 309 Exchange Drive. Leslie Davis remained in the Johnson Detention Center overnight, pending arraignment on the charge today.
