A Cross Hill man died last night in a one-vehicle wreck near his home. Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols identified the victim as 58-year-old Alfornia Ligon of 418 South Cook Road, Cross Hill. Nichols said that Alfornia Ligon died of blunt force trauma to his chest at 8:20 pm. Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Bill Rhyme said the victim was driving his 2003 GMC pickup west on Lonesome Drove Road when at 8:20 it ran off the right side of the road into a wooded area, striking multiple trees. He said the driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected. Alfornia Ligon was reportedly found some 25 to 30 feet from the vehicle.
