All absent military Service members, their families and overseas citizens are encouraged to complete absentee voting forms ASAP!

The Board of Voter Registration & Elections of Laurens County is encouraging these to submit a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) as soon as possible to ensure they can participate in the upcoming November 4TH  General Election. You must be registered by October 4th to vote in this fall’s election.

The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) states that any Service member, eligible family member or overseas citizen may be eligible to vote absentee.  The FPCA (SF-76) allows eligible voters to apply to register to vote, request an absentee ballot and/or update contact information with their local election office.  The FPCA is the primary method of communication between Service members and their election official.  Lynne West, director of the Laurens County Registration & Elections Board, said “The information provided on this form is all we need to determine if a voter meets South Carolina voter registration requirements, which election materials to send, and where and how to send a ballot.”

FVAP.gov offers an online assistant to walk Service members and their families through completion of the application, and provides a PDF file you fill out on line. West said that after filling out the form eligible voters must print and sign the form before submitting it to the Laurens County Elections Office. The FPCA can be brought by the office on the ground floor of the Historic Courthouse on the Laurens Square, they can be mailed to the Elections Office at PO Box 769, Laurens, SC  29360; emailed to lwest@co.laurens.sc.us or faxed to: 864-983-2529.
