Laurens Police were called to E.B. Morse at 2 yesterday afternoon after school personnel had taken a book bag that contained what was believed to be a weapon. Officer Bailes checked the bag and determined it contained a paint ball gun. Consultation with the school administration indicated that the student had not used the paintball gun to threaten anyone, but that approximately four other students had heard the subject had a gun in his book bag. The weapon was confiscated and taken to evidence at Laurens Police. The school took action based on school policy and a School Resource Officer took the student home. The SRO was going to follow-up in order to determine if any bullying had been involved.
