- Tennis: CHS 7 – Lancaster 0… The Lady Red Devils tennis team hosted the Lady Bruins of Lancaster in Region 3-AAA action yesterday and took a very convincing 7-0 win over the Lay Bruins… Gracie Waldron, Mason Paige Gambrell, Mary Beth Ferguson, Elizabeth Jones and Molly Scarborough all picked up wins in singles action… The #2 doubles team made up of Mary Catherine Kelly and Izzy Worley also took a win… Lancaster forfeited the #1 doubles match…. - Varsity Volleyball: Lancaster 3 – CHS 0…. JV: Lancaster 2 – CHS 0
- JV football: Lancaster 48 – CHS 20 …. The Red Devil JV football team took on the Lancaster Bruins at Wilder Stadium and came out on the short end of a 48-20 score… Lancaster jumped out to a 14-0 lead after their first two possessions… Clinton drove inside the 20 on their next possession but turned it over on downs… However, the Red Devil defense held the Bruins and forced them to punt with less than two minutes to go in the half… Taylor Bailey completed a pass to Dawson Green to get the Red Devils down inside the five and Bailey took it in from one yard out with less than a minute to go in the first half. Elvis Fitz’s PAT cut the lead to 14-7… Lancaster would fumble the ensuing kickoff and Clinton would take over inside the Lancaster 10… Clinton would take a shot in the endzone but it fell incomplete… Fitz attempted a field goal with one second left but it was blocked and returned for a touchdown on the final play of the first half as the Bruins took a 20-7 lead going into the half… Lancaster would score on their first possession of the second half to go up 26-7… Clinton would score on a Kris Holmes run to cut the lead to 26-13… Lancaster then scored and converted the two point conversion to take a 34 – 13 lead late in the 3rd quarter… Lancaster would score again and take a 40-13 lead before Clinton’s King Price scores on a 10 yard run… Fitz added the extra point to cut the lead to 40-20… Lancaster added a late touchdown and made the two point conversion to round out the scoring… Clinton will travel to Union County next Thursday to take on the Yellow Jackets.

- Tennis: Greenwood 5 – LDHS 2… The Lady Raider tennis team hosted the Lady Eagles of Greenwood yesterday afternoon at the Laurens City Tennis Courts… The raiders proved to be too kind a host as the Eagles took a 5-2 win over the raiders dropping them into 4th place behind Hanna, Greenville and Greenwood… The Raiders two wins came a #2 singles and #1 doubles where Kathleen Horner won her singles match and paired with Abby Riddle to take the doubles win…. - JV football: LDHS 22 – Hannah 0… The Laurens Raider JV team took a 22-0 win over the Yellow Jackets of TL Hannah last night at KC Hannah Stadium… Laurens went 59 yards in 5 plays in their first possession with Braylin McBeth carrying it in from 24 yards out to take an 8-0 lead when he also added the 2-point conversion… Laurens scored on their next possession which was set up by KT Abney intercepting an errant Hannah pass… McBeth picked up his 2nd TD of the night with a 3 yard run to make the score 14-0 with 8:38 left in the half… Neither team could score the rest of the half and in their initial possession of the 2nd half, Hannah drove all the way to the Raider 6 inch line when on 4th and goal to go the raiders forced a fumble into the endzone which they recovered for a touchback… A dead ball personal foul then moved the ball out to the Raider 35 from where it took them 10 plays to score with 6:34 left in the game to score when McBeth picked up his 3rd TD of the evening on a 30 yard run… McBeth added the 2-point conversion to make the final score 22-0 and the JV team moves to 2-4 on the season.
- 9th grade football: Hannah 39 – LDHS 28… In 9th grade action prior to the JV game yesterday at KC Hannah Stadium, Hannah took a 39-28 win over Laurens… Both teams scored at the end of their first possessions of the game with Troy Dendy getting the first of his 2 TDs on the night on a 14 yard run… Dendy also picked up the 2-point conversion to make the score 8-7 with Laurens on top with 6;40 left in the first period… Hannah’s Braylon Peterson then picked up his 2nd of 5 TDs on the night on a 55 yard run on the first play from scrimmage making it 14-8… Not to be outdone, Troy Dendy then went 56 yard on Laurens 1st play and the score was tied 14-14 with 6:04 left in the opening period… Hannah added 3 more scores in the half to take a 33-14 lead into the halftime break… Laurens was first to score in the second half when Aaron McCleod intercepted a Hannah pass giving the Raiders the ball at their own 33 yard line… Six plays later Ty Rice scored from 3 yards out and Dendy added the 2-pont conversion to make it 33-22 with 2:44 left in the 3rd quarter… Hannah responded on their next possession and scored making it 39-22 early in the 4th quarter… The raiders managed 1 more score with 1:12 left in the game when Rice picked up his TD on an 11 yard run making the final score 39-28… The team goes to 2-2 on the season and both the 9th grade and JV team will host Hillcrest next Thursday.

- LMS 14 – Belton 8…. The Laurens Middle School Tigers hosted undefeated Belton yesterday and I have a feeling Belton did not like the ride home as Laurens defeated them 14-8… Laurens opened up a 14-0 lead at the half by taking their first possession down the field behind Jervis Young and Carado Ray… Ray scored on a 2 yard run to end the drive and later scored again on a 56 yard run in the 2nd quarter… LMS had trouble getting their offense in sync the 2nd half but their defense kept Belton out of the endzone until the late in the final quarter of play… Belton threatened again but with 1”30 left, Donte Smith had an interception to seal the win…
- SMS 34 – BSW 0… The Sanders Yellow Jackets also posted a win yesterday and theirs was a 34-0 over the Bell Street White Wildcats… Sanders led 28-0 at the half one score being on a 72 yard run by Demondra Boyd with the 2-point conversion coming on a pass from Garrett Addy to Zachary Miller… Jordan Woodruff got on the board on a 54 yard run with Robert Walker rushing for the 2-point conversion… Jaylon Massey also had a rushing TD of 47 yard in the first half and the last Sanders score of the half came on 30 yard TD pass from Boyd to Zachariah Miller…Woodruff capped off the scoring for Sanders with a 43 yard TD run.
- BSR – 24 – HT 6… The Bell Street Red Wildcats hosted the Panther of Hickory Tavern yesterday at Wilder Stadium and the Wildcats defeated the Panthers 24-6… Brandon Owen had the lone TD for Hickory tavern… Sorry, no scoring details from BSR.
- HP 42 – GCO 12… The Gray Court-Owings Tigers hosted the team from Honea Path yesterday and all I have is the final score and that was HP 42 – GCO 12.

- Fan Bus to Hannah… There will be a fan bus going to the game tonight in Anderson…. The cost for the ride (you will have to purchase admission ticket when you arrive) will be $5.00… That’s probably less than the cost of gas it would take you to drive up there…. The bus will leave LDHS about 6:00 pm… For more details or to reserve your place on the bus call the District Transportation Office at 682-9117…. See you there!

- 1984 Football Team Reunion…There will be a reunion of the 1984 football team, cheerleaders and coaches before the October 24th game at home with Westside… There will be a supper prepared for the honored guest in the Commons area at 5:00 pm… If you are planning on attending, please call Ashley Hall at 683-3351 so they can be sure to prepare enough food.
