McDonalds Shooting Suspect Arrested and Charged

miller javarioThe suspect in the Laurens McDonalds shooting has been arrested and charged.  You will remember our story from Monday concerning the shooting at McDonalds. Laurens City Police responded to 105 Fleming Street at 14 minutes after midnight Sunday morning. Dispatch advised officers that the shooter was a male seen running toward the Family Dollar across Fleming Street. Sgt. Joey Pittman reported arriving at the scene to observe a very large crowd in the parking lot at McDonald’s and inside the restaurant. He observed two bullet holes in the front door and shattered glass. The victim, a 27-year-old Laurens man, was observed lying on the floor. People at the scene gave conflicting reports of what had happened. One said the shooter ran towards North Harper while another said the shooter was in a silver car. Witnesses were reportedly not cooperative with officers. Detective Leann Riggott took charge of the investigation.

Javario Kinty Dacory Miller, age 19, of 522 Green St. Laurens was charged yesterday with first degree burglary, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into a public conveyance. Detective Leanne Riggot states in Warrants that on October 5th, Miller did attempt to murder a victim by shooting the victim with a handgun causing injury and did so with malice aforethought. The incident occurred at mcdonalds 105 fleming street in the city of laurens. Further warrants state Miller did unlawfully discharge a firearm into a public building that was occupied by persons. The incident occurred at mcdonalds and did have in his possession a handgun while commiting the crime of attempted murder which is classified as a violent crime under sc law. A further warrant states that on September 19th he did break and enter the dwelling of a victim on exchange drive laurens with the intent to commit a crime therein and occurred while he was armed with a deadly weapon. He awaits bond in the Johnson Detention Center.
