Laurens City Police were dispatched to a domestic altercation in progress on Oakland Heights at 11:10 last night. Master Patrolman James Woody arrived and located the alleged victim of an assault at the next door neighbor’s house, noting she appeared to be very upset. The officer was told that the victim and her live-in boyfriend had argued on the porch, and the man and woman next door reportedly observed some of the altercation, including when the subject allegedly pushed his pregnant girlfriend off the porch and struck her head with his fist. He denied assaulting her. Meanwhile, the man next door had reportedly come to the woman’s rescue, pushing the boyfriend away. 30-year-old Cory Blackwell was advised he was under arrest for domestic violence and placed in the Johnson Detention Center. Blackwell reportedly has children with the victim and lives with her at 128 Oakland Heights, Laurens, but gave his mother’s address on Westminister Avenue when booked in the Johnson Detention Center. He was being held for a warrant, expected to charge him with 3rd Offense Criminal Domestic Violence.
