Laurens Police were dispatched to Wilson Street at 8:37 Saturday night with blue lights and siren after a neighbor called to report a domestic altercation. The caller noted hearing the two arguing for hours, then they exited the house and the female was yelling “somebody help me.” Sgt. Gainey reportedly arrived to observe the female visibly upset and crying. She reportedly indicated she had been assaulted by her child’s father. Sgt. Gainey noted he had arrested the male subject the previous day for Disorderly Conduct. The man was found lying on a bed and taken into custody. The woman reportedly indicated after the man was released from jail Saturday she allowed him back into the house. While they were having dinner she reportedly observed a text message on his phone from another girl and she told him to leave her residence. She indicated he had slapped her face and pushed her down on the couch. While no injuries were observed, the officer did note redness to her face and neck. 20-year-old Chadwick Dale Martin Jr. of 110 Holland Street, Simpsonville was then advised he was under arrest for Criminal Domestic Violence, and Sgt. Gainey issued a ticket with that charge at 9:10 pm. During arraignment yesterday, a cash or surety bond was set at $5,000. Chadwick Martin Jr. remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
