Local Sports Results
LDHS… The boys’ JV basketball team started participation in the Upward JV Tournament at Byrnes HS last Saturday.
- LDHS 43 – Spartanburg 34… In the first game on Saturday, the Raiders took a 43-34 win over the Spartanburg Vikings… Brendin Gallamore led the team with 14 points and Jaylin Walker had 9…. According to Coach Josh Dawkins, excellent teamwork allowed the team to take the win.
- Dorman 40 – LDHS 38 in OT…. In a second round game on Saturday, Laurens faced off against the Doman Cavaliers… DQ Floyd hit a clutch 3-pointer to send the game into overtime but Dorman prevailed in OT taking a 40-38 win… Brendin Gallamore again led the team with 14 points… The Raiders will be back in action again today as they face the Byrnes Rebel JV team at 12:45 for 3rd place in the tournament.
- Raider Wrestling… Be sure to check back tomorrow when we have a lot of catching up to do on the Raider wrestlers.

- B: Abbeville 64 – CHS 55… The Clinton boys’ varsity basketball team started their participation in the Newberry Christmas Tournament on Saturday… Unfortunately their start was not a good one as they fell to the Abbeville Panthers by a score of 64-55… The Red Devils kept it close in the first half as the trailed by only 2 with the score being 28-26… Tymori Tribble and Shakeam Dowdy led Clinton with 15 points each while Tay Cook chipped in 13… Clinton is scheduled to play the loser of the AC Flora – Aiken game today at 3:30pm.
Laurens Academy: The Laurens Academy Crusader varsity basketball teams were also in action on Friday and Saturday as they participated in the Newberry Academy Sonic Shootout… They were scheduled to take on Wardlaw on Friday and I do not have the results of those games but I do have some results from Saturday.
- G: LA 37 – Greenwood Christian 13… On Saturday the Lady Crusaders took a one-sided 37-13 win over the Lady Hawks of Greenwood Christian… Scoring for LA were: Taylor Williamson 15, Sydney Fisher 10, Ruthie Moore 4, Kaitlyn Muir 3, Mariclare McEntire 2, Taylor Campbell 2, and Caroline Verdin 1…. The team’s record is now 7-3 on the season.
- B: LA 57 – Greenwood Christian 53… The boys’ game was a whole lot closer but the Crusaders prevailed by a score of 57-53… Chase Brewington led the scoring for LA with 33 points… Others scoring were: Nate Martin 13, Austin Foster 5, Ryan Holmes 4, and Jonathan Burns 2…. The win allowed the team to even their record at 5-5 on the season.
Middle School Basketball… The Sanders Middle School basketball teams participated in a middle school tournament up at DR Hill Middle School in Lyman over the weekend… I do have results from their first game. ..In girls’ action, Sanders lost to Florence Chapel 48-33 on Friday and the boys lost to Greenville 51-29… Sorry no further details.

- Youth Basketball… Registration is now open for youth basketball at the Laurens YMCA… It is open to youth ages 3-14 and will be divided into age appropriate divisions… The cost is $65 for members and $75 for nonmembers… Registration will close January 4th.
