Laurens County Deputies were dispatched Code 3 at 7:54 last night to Hampton Avenue, Joanna on a report of a domestic assault. A Joanna woman called 911 after she looked out a window to see a man hit a woman in the face. Deputy Michael Crockett arrived, followed by Corporal Tonya Garrick. They talked with the witness who told of witnessing the man strike the woman, and of the woman appearing to be frightened of the man. The witness said she called 911 after the man would not let the woman come into the house. The man then allegedly bulldozed the female victim to the ground and began hitting her several times, then he ran down the street. The woman was taken to the Laurens County Hospital for treatment. Deputies learned there were no broken bones from the attack, as had been suspected. The victim, a woman from Clinton, reportedly told an officer she has been dating the subject for five months, and he’s become more and more aggressive. Additional allegations even include reports of the victim being bound and raped in recent days. Deputies were continuing their investigation into the case.
