At 2 minutes until midnight last night Laurens City Police received a report of a break-in at an apartment on Garlington Street. Arriving one minute after midnight this morning, officers talked with a woman who said her ex-boyfriend had kicked in the door to her apartment. She said she had heard someone knocking loudly and she looked outside. She refused to answer the door. She said the ex-boyfriend began kicking the door until he gained entry. She stated he chased her into a downstairs bathroom, then began kicking the door to gain entry while he was yelling “I’ll kill you.”
After he got in that door he reportedly tried to take her cell phone to keep her from calling 911. Her boyfriend reportedly heard the commotion and came to her aid, telling the ex-boyfriend he was only going to cause himself more trouble if he didn’t leave. He then left. Initial searching for the suspect did not locate him early this morning. Officer James Woody noted the front door of the apartment had been kicked out of its frame and that the bathroom door had been destroyed. Detective Hunnicutt photographed the damage. Warrants for 1st Degree Burglary were to be sought.
