Laurens County Healthcare System New Emergency Department Prepares To Open

The Laurens County Health Care System announced yesterday that the health licensing division of S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) approved occupancy and operations of the new Emergency Department and Women’s Life Center following their final inspection on Tuesday, March 4. Emergency staff and operations will be moved to the new facility during the night shift next Wednesday, March 13 with a full transition into the new ED to begin at 7 a.m. on March 14th.  EMS will be instructed to present patients at the new ambulance drop-off at this same time.

The new ED nearly triples the size of the former facility and offers 19 individual, spacious treatment rooms, with solid walls and doors for patient privacy.

 In addition specialty treatment areas include:

•        Trauma treatment rooms

•        Pediatric resuscitation rooms

•        Dedicated decontamination rooms

•        GYN and sexual trauma rooms

•        Cardiac treatment rooms

•        Separate behavioral health unit offering accommodations for up to six mental health patients

Plans are developing to move into the new Women’sLifeCenterby the end of the month.

In addition, effective immediately, the community is instructed to enter the NEW Outpatient Entrance for all outpatient care.  Anyone needing outpatient services (registration, rehab, cardiopulmonary, lab, radiology, surgery, urological and oncology services, seep lab, and LC4) should enter the new entrance.
