The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office was assisting Clinton Public Safety with a Safety Checkpoint overnight at North Broad and Oakland when at 1:10 this morning a vehicle stopped short of the officers and suspicious activity appeared to be going on inside. It then pulled up to Corporal Moye. The driver reportedly did not have a valid driver’s license. The deputy checked reports that indicated the subject had 17 driver’s license suspension on his driving record, and two active bench warrants for his arrest on Driving under Suspension charges. 26-year-old Zachary Alex Vance of unit #5 at 1411 South Bell Street Clinton was arrested on a Driving under Suspension and an Open Container of Alcohol charge and placed in the Johnson Detention Center. There, the Sheriff’s Office had two Bench Warrants for his arrest. They cite a December 4, 2012 conviction of an Open Container violation with a sentence of $110 or 15 days along with a November 21st, 2012 conviction on a DUS charge with a sentence of $997 or 30 days in jail. Zachary Vance was being held for a bond hearing today on the new charges.
