Arrest Follows Early Sunday Break-in & Assault

 Laurens City Police were dispatched to Laurens Terrace Drive at 3:20 Sunday morning on a report of a break-in. Officer Michael Gainey reported arriving to find the subject in a vehicle out front of the apartment attempting to leave. The departure was prevented by the patrol car and Officers arrested the suspect.  26-year-old Ashley O’Neal “Fig” Irby of 76 Lakewood Drive, Laurens was charged with 1st Degree Burglary and with Criminal Domestic Violence. Mr. Irby is accused of breaking into an occupied dwelling in the nighttime hours April 21st by prying a window up at a residence on Laurens Terrace Drive. He is also accused of causing a woman of that residence to fear for her life by striking her in the mouth and nose with his fist, causing injury. A warrant states that the victim and subject have a child in common.  

 A $75,000 bond was set on the 1st Degree Burglary charge, with bond on the Criminal Domestic Violence charge was set at $5,000. Ashley Irby remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
