A Clinton Public Safety Officer was stationary at Bishop Tire around 4:30 this morning and observed a vehicle headed out-of-town at around 60-miles-per-hour in that 35-mph zone. The officer gave chase, but before catching up with the car observed it swerve across the median and into the eastbound lanes. It collided with a large industrial truck that was headed into town and bounced off. The woman driving the car was reportedly from North Carolina, and was apparently trying to find her way to Greenville by heading out of Clinton toward GreenWOOD. She did not appear to be critically injured, but was taken to hospital for treatment. The truck driver was not reportedly injured.
The SCHP was called in to investigate the wreck.
