The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday arrested a man who is alleged to be one of three people who assaulted another man as a mob back in June. 18-year-old Fabian Diaz of 10 Smythe Street, Laurens was charged with Assault and Battery by a Mob in the 3rd Degree with bodily Injury resulting. Deputy Carter alleges that on June 23rd Fabian Diaz assaulted the victim alongside two other co-defendants by causing visible injury to the victim’s face that required medical treatment. He is also accused of doing over $4,000 in damage to the victim’s 2000 Ford Mustang by striking the vehicle with beer bottles, and he’s accused of taking away items valued at less than $2,000 from the victim’s vehicle.
During arraignment, bonds were set on the three charges totaling $19,500. Fabian Diaz remained in the Johnson Detention Center earlier today.
