The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four people being killed on South Carolina roadways last weekend, from Friday, July 26, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 28, at midnight. As of midnight Sunday night, 395 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 493 highway deaths in this same time period in 2012.
270 of the 395 deaths were motor vehicle occupants, 41 were pedestrians, 63 were motorcyclists and 7 bicyclists have died on our state’s roadways so far in 2013.
Laurens County’s fatalities for the year now total 7, half the 14 killed at this time in 2012.
