Clinton Public Safety Officer Kenneth Prather was on routine patrol at 12:01 am Sunday when he reportedly observed a Ford Explorer turn onto Laurens Street and observed the tag light was not working. When he made a traffic stop on West Carolina he reportedly observed the smell of marijuana as he spoke with the driver and observed a bong in the passenger side floor. As the man was apprehended he gave consent to Lt. Jones to search. The bong and a half-smoked marijuana joint were reportedly found in the vehicle. 63-year-old Roger Miller of 107 Apple Orchard Road, Clinton was charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The subject initially wanted to go to the hospital to be checked out for an elevated heart rate, but then refused to be transported by EMS in handcuffs. Miller was released from City Jail later in the morning on PR bonds of $620 and $262.50.
