A Laurens woman was delivered to the Laurens County Detention Center from Greenville County yesterday to face charges from a Saturday night Burglary on November 30th. 31-year-old Whitney Leigh Maness of 1441 Highway 252, Laurens was arrested by Simpsonville Police a couple of days after the burglary on charges of attempting to use a stolen check to make a purchase at Kohl’s. Simpsonville Police notified Laurens County Deputies about evidence allegedly connecting Ms. Maness to a break-in at Crenshaw’s store in Cold Point the previous Saturday night. Then around midnight the following Monday night Deputies arrested 36-year-old Daniel Shane Bennett of 3566 Bethel Church road, Laurens on charges of Burglary and Larceny for the alleged break-in. He has since been released on bond, pending trial. With her arrival at the Johnson Detention Center yesterday, Whitney Maness has now been charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Petit Larceny for allegedly entering a building at 6532 Highway 221 South the night of November 30th and allegedly taking items valued at less than $2,000 from Crenshaw’s store. She was being held pending a bond hearing on the charges today.
