Some Laurens County homeowners should soon see improved fire insurance rates. Laurens County Fire Service Coordinator Greg Lindley told County Council last night that the new ISO ratings are now going into publication, and he expects to see the new rates Insurance companies use for setting fire insurance rates by the end of the month,.
Lindley said he expects to see uniform rates across Laurens County. Currently some areas of the county have a “10” ISO rating, which is comparable to not having fire coverage. The county has worked to change fire coverage in order to provide coverage for these areas. Council Chair Jim Coleman indicated that people with a “10” rating are paying four or five times more than they will with better fire coverage.
