4 Charged From Traffic Stop

   Four people have been served with drug charges following a traffic stop early yesterday morning. Clinton Public Safety Officer Stephen Lawton reported he was on routine patrol on West Main at 1:15 am yesterday and observed a vehicle make a right turn onto North Bell Street without using a traffic signal. He made a traffic stop on the vehicle, which had four occupants and called for backup. A check of the vehicle reportedly led to discovery of a white powder substance in the middle console of the vehicle that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Two small roaches of marijuana were reportedly found in a small bag hanging from a vent over the radio. All four subjects were placed into custody. All denied that the meth was theirs but the driver reportedly took responsibility for the marijuana.

  18-year-old Haley Dawn Poole of 103 James Road, Joanna was charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana and with Possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine. The passengers, all charged with Possession of less than one gram of Meth, were 23-year-old Rebecca Sue McWatters of 405 Francis Street, Clinton, 20-year-old Lexy Norelle Hunnicutt of 508 West Calhoun Street, Joanna and 20-year-old Derrick Olajuwon Bluford of 106 North Bell Street, Clinton. All were released later yesterday morning on $5,000 personal recognizance bonds on the Possession of Meth charge. Ms. Poole also posted a $620 PR bond on the Marijuana charge.

  Clinton Public Safety reported taking possession of .15 gram of methamphetamine and .39 gram of marijuana.
