Clinton Public Safety was on assignment doing a Road Check on Willard Road late Sunday night when just before midnight Lt. Cathy Anderson reportedly observed a vehicle approach, making a suspicious stop before driving into to Sunoco station. As Lt. Anderson was with the driver, a 19-year-old Clinton female, Officer Matthew Metz arrived and assisted with a male passenger. As a result of an investigation marijuana was reportedly located under the passenger’s seat. Officers noted seizing 4 individually packaged baggies of marijuana, one opened baggie of marijuana, 4 partially-smoked marijuana cigarettes. A total of 34.60 grams of marijuana was noted, along with 2 electronic scales, a box of plastic baggies, plus a $10 bill, 6 $5 bills and 16 $1 bills.
At 12:25 yesterday morning, Officers arrested the passenger, 32-year-old James Jimmy Wise Jr. of 2208 Adelaide Street, Newberry and charged him with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A $15,000 Surety bond was set on the Possession with Intent charge, and a $620 personal recognizance bond was set on the Paraphernalia charge. The 19-year-old Clinton female was cited with Violation of her Beginners Permit.
More marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located from another vehicle at 12:30 yesterday morning during the License Check on Willard Road. In this case one clear plastic baggie with 1.550 grams was seized, along with a smoking pipe and a 25 ounce can of Fosters beer. A man and woman from Cross Hill were cited with Simple Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Open Container of Beer.
