Laurens County Administrator Ernie Segars alerted County Council last evening of an impending need to build new and repair old fire stations. Referring to areas of Laurens County that are more than five miles from a fire station, Segars said the county will have to build new stations to cover the areas determined by the I.S.O. – Insurance Service Office – as Class 10. He said that repairs are also needed on older fire stations in the county. The County Administrator added “We are in the process of looking at funding options to do this, and that will be the next major project that council will need to deal with, in a month or so.” Council Chairman Jim Coleman agreed by saying that there are four general areas that need to be addressed in a timely fashion, this may become a bond issue.
