Clinton Public Safety Officer Jamie Reid was dispatched to Westchase Apartments at 8:31 last night on a report of vandalism. The officer arrived and made contact with a 13-year-old male who indicated that he and a 14-year-old male, who had left but was to return shortly, had been spray painting their bicycles. Officer Reid noted that the boys had spray painted their bicycles and bicycle parts on permanent fixtures and on attached building property. Damage was noted to vinyl siding, brick, 2 small patio doors, an air conditioning unit and the basketball court. Several cans of paint were recovered from the scene. Officer Reid observed black and white paint on the 13-year-old’s hands. The 14-year-old youth then returned and the officer observed neon paint in a variety of colors on his hands, feet and sandals. The officer determined the youth had not had adult supervision during the incident. Apartment management wanted to press charges. Damage was estimated at $1,200. The two youth were charged with Malicious Injury and released. Their cases were being referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
