A Clinton woman reported a possible phone scam operation to Public Safety late yesterday morning, She said she’s getting calls from a company claiming to be calling about an outstanding balance due another company for $1,600. She was told they would settle for $850. Sgt. Cathy Anderson got the number from the victim’s caller ID and called it. The number was answered as if it’s a law firm. When Sgt. Anderson attempted to explain why she was calling the phone call was disconnected. She then instructed the victim of the calls to check with her bank to see if anyone could be using her identity.
