A District 56 School Board member is up to Level IV……..and it’s not a video game. The South Carolina School Boards Association encourages local school board members to educate themselves about issues and trends facing local school districts. To that end they established the ‘Boardsmanship’ Institute in 1982. This Institute offers year round training for local school board members who can progress from the basic Level I which is required for any newly elected school board member all the way up to Level VI. The progression up through the levels is based on a point system which takes into account individual study, on site- training within their local district and participation in statewide conferences.
At Monday’s meeting of the District 56 Board of Trustees, board member Jan Simmons was recognized as having attained Level IV certification from the ‘Boardsmanship’ Institute.
