A Greenwood man was charged with drug and firearms violations this weekend following a traffic stop Saturday afternoon. Clinton Public Safety Officer Thomas Scott Peay was conducting stationary radar on Springdale Drive when at 3:25 pm he reportedly observed a vehicle traveling 57 in the 45-mile-per-hour zone and made a traffic stop on the vehicle containing three Greenwood men. During the course of investigation a passenger was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana and handguns. 25-year-old William Terrell Holmes of 1624 Evans Pond Road, Greenwood was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol. Holmes is charged with having in his possession a quantity of marijuana packaged in four separate containers on September 27th with Intent to Distribute. Officer Peay states that the total weight of the marijuana was approximately 17.1 grams. William T. Holmes is also accused of having 58 pills of one substance and 17 pills of another controlled substance Saturday in violation of state law. A third warrant states that on September 27th 2014 Holmes had in his possession while in a motor vehicle two semi-automatic handguns of .38 caliber. Officer Peay states these handguns were under the seats of the Ford Mustang Williams was occupying while in motion on Springdale Drive. Cash or Surety bonds were set totaling $18,000. William Terrell Holmes was placed in the Johnson Detention Center, where he remained this morning. A second passenger was cited with Simple Possession of Marijuana and released on a $620 personal recognizance bond. The driver was reportedly issued a summons for his traffic charge.
