The Highway Patrol is operating their “Sober or Slammer” campaign for the Holiday Season, encouraging folks to drive carefully and defensively. They are stressing the importance of not driving after drinking alcoholic beverages. This year Laurens County has the highest level of traffic fatalities in at least the last four years.
So are we all heading the admonition not to ‘drink and drive?’ Apparently not all of us are. The Highway Patrol made another DUI arrest at 4 yesterday afternoon some six miles east of Gray Court. A 37-year-old Gray Court woman was charged with Transporting Liquor with a Broken Seal, of Having an Open Beer or Wine in the vehicle and of Driving under the Influence with a blood alcohol content of .16 or higher. She was being held overnight in the county detention center, pending a bond hearing today. Provided she’s sober enough to participate.
