A Mountville man was flown by helicopter to Greenville for treatment of severe head injuries just after midnight Sunday morning, injuries thought to have been inflicted by a brick. Sheriff’s Deputy Timothy Byrd was dispatched to a Mountville area residence at 11:46 Saturday night on a report of a man who had been assaulted being in cardiac arrest. A man was found inside a trailer, sitting on the living room floor with his back propped up against a chair. Deputy Byrd noted trauma to the man’s head with heavy bleeding from the side of his head. A broken brick was found on the blood-covered floor by the victim’s head. EMS was called and the victim was airlifted to Greenville for treatment of his injures. Another Mountville man in the area had scratches on his arms and side of his neck and was listed as a potential suspect. He was not arrested because his story of what happened to cause his injuries was confirmed by others.
